It’s cold,
I’m in a bit,
of a rut,
sort of like,
my Habs,
no,
not that bad!!!
🙂
I’m just tired,
cold,
longing,
for an escape,
a vacation,
missing my girl,
<sigh>
and from,
my perusal,
of the part of,
the blogosphere,
that I peruse
<wink>
I’m not the only one.
January,
mid-January,
people are,
either
a) Tired and cold
b) looking to change their routines, better themselves.
My ex says the gym where she works out is so full, the other day she had to practically ‘stalk’ a woman to get a locker. She felt weird asking a woman if she was leaving and the woman said ‘don’t worry, most of us will be gone by next week’
I believe,
that,
after,
the initial,
optimism,
even,
euphoria,
of New Year’s,
and it’s,
many,
resolutions,
comes,
fatigue,
and,
impatience,
even,
disatisfaction,
with ourselves.
We need to be more,
patient with,
ourselves,
we are not,
made of,
stainless steel,
or,
cast iron,
we are,
of flesh,
of blood,
of hormones,
of dreams,
weak,
strong,
we reach,
we tumble,
we get up,
we fall down,
we get up,
again.
We have victories,
we have defeats,
the latter,
as important,
as,
the former.
We need time,
we need nurture,
we need,
to regroup,
to grieve,
to love,
and,
be loved.
We need,
Januaries,
in order to,
grow,
and,
growth,
needs time,
and,
patience.
Later girls,
BB
Hi BB!
You have the right idea about January.
Even TX is gray and just a bit chilly–at least, it was for a day!
I love January b/c it turns my favorite YMCA into American Idol, but for gym warriors–you know, those beginning shows where the cripple, crazy and kooky come out to prove to the world that THEY can do it. At my Y, everyone is out in all shapes, sizes, and colors. They are festooned in their bright and shiny high tech sweat wicking gear and they have such energy! Typically I workout at the Y about twice a week, but in January I can’t resist going daily. It’s the best time of the year. I meet interesting folk, who really want to ‘work’ off their extra pounds, but they just don’t know how. Thus, they take off running at top speed in January and by January 20, or so, they have run out of gas. I root for them to last 28 days, but few do. So as my Y empties of New Year’s Resolution Warriors, I’m just a little sad–it’s too bad they don’t have any of the patience and self love and strength of purpose that you have so eloquently asserted is necessary for life.
Awwww…. I read somewhere that the third Monday of January is a blue, lunch-bag let-down kind of day in North America. Or maybe I made that up. Spring will be here soon enough. I am heading to the gym shortly, hoping that all those new year’s resolutioners are done for the day, and that there will be no more arm wrestling for lockers or space.
Be patient with the resolution crowd, they mean well:-)
You should share your philosophy of baby steps, don’t you think?
I’m a believer:-)
Patience is a virtue, and sometimes, a highly overrated one. 😉
Granted:-)
