Let me state,
first and foremost,
that I am,
a cat lover,
always have been,
always will be,
The Dude,
my current,
feline companion,
is a Prince amongst cats,
still….
The woman who created Harry Potter, yeah, she knows….
Not Zombies or Vampires…
The appeal of butches…interesting:-)
Alison Bechdel, in the Fun Home. Part of the erotic appeal of butches for me is that, being with butch women somehow feels like coming home. Something about people who are a bit queer in their body presentation and social roles, additional to being simply gay, resonates with me and ups the attraction. Really nice wallpaper too.
Must get this, could be my new role model
<wink>

I really enjoyed browsing Bechdel’s bookshelves in Unpacking My Library: Writers and Their Books. If you haven’t already seen the pictures of her shelves (and the bits of room that go along with them), I’m guessing you’d have fun with it (pretty sure it’s not the same wallpaper though!).
Thanks for the info, I love Bechdel, been reading her for years- funny, thoughtful, smart.
Plus, I really dig her geeky art school granola-ish butch vibe( I mean that in the most complinentary of ways:-))
Ditto on all things Bechdel.
Love cats. At one point I had 3. But now I have allergies & 4 dogs. So I treasure the client’s cats I care for and wash thoroughly after we love each other up.
I love both, but, dogs are a little labour intensive for me. I love the combination of love and aloofness of cats, love on their terms. Have you read Bechdel’s latest book? I just found out about it, can’t wait to
pick it up.
I did read it, shortly after it came out. It’s excellent, although I prefer Fun Home. Are You My Mother? is a much more intellectually rigorous read. Sad to say I wasn’t prepared to do *that* much work!
I hear ya! I really enjoyed Fun Home.
