Tradition

Well,

girls,

soon Christmas will be,

upon us.

Now,

you all know,

I’m grouchy,

some might even say,

ornery,

but,

I’m also,

an idealist,

and,

really do,

believe,

in goodwill,

to all,

the dichotomous butch,

yep,

that’s me.

I like Christmas,

spending time,

with my family,

my friends,

the kids bring,

a lot of joy to Christmas,

and,

this year,

we will be seeing,

a part of the family,

we haven’t seen,

since I was,

jeez,

not sure how long,

that’s nice,

and,

a little bit,

nerve wracking too,

nervous Nelly butch

For the first time,

in twenty five years,

I won’t see my,

best bud,

and,

ex,

on or about,

Christmas eve,

weird,

but,

that’s ok,

’cause our relationship,

is about so much more,

than Christmas.

Christmas is important,

to me,

about tradition,

and stuff,

but,

friends and family,

are about more,

than tradition.

Just as it’s traditional,

for us to watch,

Charlie Brown Christmas,

and,

Dr Seuss’ Grinch,

it’s also different now,

I can recite them,

by heart,

almost,

and hear my dad,

saying : roast beast is a feast I can’t stand in the least,

the fact is,

he isn’t there,

to say it anymore,

and,

so many others,

aren’t either.

But, there are new members,

of the family,

and the circle,

young ones,

and in law ones,

and that is how,

it should be,

the inclusiveness,

the love,

and,

stimulating,

new,

along,

with tradition.

I like tradition,

I embrace tradition,

but,

I’m also very grateful,

for my rut being shook.

When I count my blessings,

as Bing did in White Christmas,

I count the people who loved me,

and,

made me who I am,

parents,

grandparents,

friends,

and,

I count the present blessings,

the ones who make me ,

the present me.

my mom,

and her continued good health,

my truly wonderful friends,

the ex,

the anarchist,

and,

a few more.

The nephews and niece,

little tasmanian devils,

of energy,

and,

mischief,

who keep my heart,

young,

and tire me out,

with questions,,

about,

Legos and Pokemons,

and whatever else,

they come up with.

My wonderful cousins,

blood and otherwise,

my aunt,

possibly the nicest human,

I know,

my uncle,

an ornery ole guy,

with a heart that believes,

and,

is always there,

for all of us.

My love,

who mysteriously,

thinks I’m sexy, smart and,

by the grace of whatever,

loves me.

Those are a lot,

of blessings,

and there are even more

for one bookish butch.

May you have,

as many,

in your life,

all of you.

May the blessings of love,

and,

friendship,

be with you all,

in this holiday season,

and,

if times are hard,

remember the good ones,

and,

reach out and make new,

good times,

because,

traditions start somewhere

🙂

Big butchy hug to all of you.

Merry Christmas

🙂

Later girls,

BB

I am a bookish butch in my mid early fifties. I live in Montréal and always have. I used to run a small used bookstore. Reading keeps me sane. My latest jiggie is photography, book project in the works, living the dream
