Beautiful sunny,
cold day here,
at  the,
southern tip,
of the great white north,
well, not quite but, you get the point, right?
🙂
Last night,
Gerald Tremblay,
resigned his position,
as Maire of our,
beautiful and crumbling,
metropolis.
The end of an era.
He resigned amid,
allegations,
indeed,
accusations,
of corruption.
Will Tremblay’s resignation,
change things?
Probably not,
but,
we musn’t succumb,
to cynicism,
no matter,
how tempting that may be.
Change can come,
if we believe,
and,
work hard at expressing,
the directions we want to take.
This brings me,
to something that has been,
on my mind,
quite a bit lately,
the American election.
I remember that night,
four years ago,
when the West Coast polls closed,
and,
the major American networks,
flashed a picture,
of Barack Obama,
and,
announced he would be,
the new President.
I got a lump in my throat,
and,
a tear in my eye.
You see,
I had been,
converted to Obama.
Starting out as a Hillary fan,
I still am, and think she’s done a bang up job as Secretary Of State and think she might still become the first woman President of the United-States:-)
Like most American Democrats,
I am, in sympathies,
I got on the Obama bandwagon.
I liked him.
I liked his wife,
I loved that,
‘Yes, we can’ speech,
and, thought,
well,
a smart, thoughtful, good man,
can solve the American problems.
It was naive to think that,
eight years of that duffus Dubya,
could be ‘fixed’ by the brilliant Barack.
He inherited a disastrous,
economic situation,
and,
two wars.
Has he been perfect?
Far from it,
he has in fact increased,
spending on ‘Homeland Security’,
and,
his Obama Care,
as a Canadian,
seems much too little,
still,
I believe he is a good man,
who has worked damn hard,
a man who listens to,
the opinions of others,
a smart man,
who’s hair has become,
greyer and greyer,
as he carries,
the weight of the job,
on his shoulders.
Mitt Romney has shoe black hair, a touch of grey, for effect, just saying:-)
Now,
is not the time,
to succumb to fear,
and or,
cynicism.
Mitt Romney,
isn’t the way,
he will set,
woman’s rights,
and,
gay rights,
back decades.
But, it isn’t only about that,
it’s about chosing to work,
together,
and not,
against,
each other,
it’s still about,
Hope.
I wish all of you,
a good election day,
good luck,
President Obama.
Here for your consideration,
face book wisdom,
Interesting contrast, no?
and you know,
ultimately,
at least in this election…
WINK.
May the best man win,
and,
even if we don’t agree,
on who that is,
I hope all of my American friends,
will excercise their right to vote.
later girls,
BB
Yesterday was a wonderful day to vote here in the swing state of OH. And last night was a tremendously satisfying night to watch the election returns roll in from around the country. So many bad-actors (men condoning rape/failing to pay child support, etc.) losing their jobs, failing in their challenges of excellent incumbents. Gay marriage winning at the polls for the first time, women elected in record numbers — OH HAPPY DAY!
It was a great night and I am very ‘proud’ of my American cousins. Happy Day Indeed!! 🙂
Still hopeful. 🙂
I think we all need to be, congrats:-)
