The possibility of love?

Ladies,

How are we on this fine,

April morning?

I feel good,

a little tired,

but,

hey,

could be age,

more likely,

it’s seasonal change,

tiring.

I have been reading,

a lot of highbrow,

and,

time consuming stuff,

lately,

but,

in the last few days,

I read a nice,

relaxing,

romance.

I won’t tell you which,

I have to review elsewhere,

and honestly,

it doesn’t really matter,

a good romance,

is,

a good romance.

All the required,

elements,

in place,

lined up,

two beautiful women,

one more butch,

than the other,

one more vulnerable,

than the other,

alas, it’s true, usually the butch:-)

seems one is usually,

dark haired,

a raven haired beauty,

one is lighter haired,

and more muscular,

again, usually, the butch,

her object of desire,

is not described as,

femme,

that wouldn’t be,

right,

politically,

right?

Some sort of,

conflict or coincidence,

throws them together,

at each other,

so to speak.

Instant chemistry,

but,

also,

impossibility,

or at the very least,

hindrance,

prohibits them,

being together,

sigh.

A good romance,

author,

manages to bring them,

together,

in a believable,

or at least,

not too,

contrived way.

Along the way,

she also,

if she’s good,

throws in some,

bone melting,

liquid bodied,

sex.

Be still my heart!!

What can I say,

I’m a sucker,

for a happy ending,

and romance novels,

deliver.

why else would we read, them?

Nothing wrong,

with the prospect,

of a happy ending,

keeps you hopeful,

keeps you,

out there.

Or have we become,

too jaded,

too cynical,

too scared,

for a happy ending?

Not, I,

BB,

is an eternal,

optimist,

romantic,

not silly,

or deluded,

well, I don’t think I am.

I just like to believe,

in the possibility,

and,

sometimes,

the impossibility,

of,

Love and Romance.

What do the girls think?

Later girls,

BB

  1. Sounds like a good read.

I often think that romance is what gives wings to our most basic needs and desires. It helps us fly higher, glide longer and land more softly. I don’t mind about happy ever after endings as long as there is romance in the here and now.

  2. At the risk of sounding hopelessly old-fashioned, I will say…I believe in the whole enchilada– romance and happily ever after,
to me, no greater aspiration exists:-)

  3. Romance novels are wonderful…especially when they illustrate the possibility realistically in the nuts and bolts of everyday life. Big gestures are great when they are the prelude to buckling down and living…

  4. I agree, but, I also like to read about women who are better looking, taller and who’s jobs are a little more glamourous, Yeah, I know you’re thinking more glamourous than selling books??

  5. You are correct. What could possibly be more glamorous than selling books? As near as I can tell, bookstore owner/seller has to be one of the most Used occupations in romance novels and romantic comedies. ‘Everyone’ knows that bookstore owners/sellers of books are free spirited liberal artsy types who well dressed, sensitive, and smart…”The Shop Around the Corner”, the much less watchable, but profile fitting “You’ve Got Mail”, “Funny Face”,…for books there are too many to name + they are ‘dime store’ books not meant to be remembered past the pleasant time of reading…:-)

Better looking and taller is always good…but well, get those red boots and you’ll be on your way to stomping any ole book heroine!

  6. I love those movies, the scene where Meg Ryan, dances in the empty bookshop, after she has had to close, I cried, it’s OK, it was dark in the movie theatre so my tough butch image is still in tact:-) I think I’ll get the Crazy Horse Brown in suede, more me, talking about boots, here. Thanks for your comments:-)

  7. Step Out! ‘Think Pink!’…Ok, not really, but thinking of ‘Funny Face’ has put that in my head:-)

I suppose baby steps are Ok. First Crazy Horse Brown in suede and who knows, you might be looking at Born Shoes or Timberlands or no tellin’ what other blasphemy might pop into your head!
