Spectacles?

a glorious morning,

sunny, clear,

I’m taking my friend,

Sylvain,

for lunch,

it’s his birthday,

he turns,

forty-seven,

a little more,

than two months,

before me,

so,

I get to tease him.

Funny thing,

age,

this week,

I found myself,

reading with,

my glasses,

perched on the edge,

of my nose,

I remember my,

Grandparents doing that,

and my dad,

holding a book,

at what looked like,

a ridiculous,

distance,

yeah,

things change.

The thing is,

I’ve worn glasses,

most of my life,

bookish,

almost,

always,

equals,

myopic,

but,

this reading glasses jiggy,

I don’t know,

if I like,

that.

The thing is,

most of the time,

I feel like a kid,

bright eyed,

bushy tailed,

and,

well,

clueless.

The more I know,

the more I know,

I don’t know,

shit

I keep waiting,

to grow up,

I guess,

and,

once in a while,

I spy myself,

with my four little eyes,

and barely recognize,

the graying,

ageing,

reflection,

and,

then I smile,

at myself,

and,

her I recognize,

smiley:-)

The one who’s got,

so much,

dancing,

reading,

and loving,

still ahead,

life.

Glasses perched,

on the edge,

of her nose,

or not,

the nervous,

curious butch,

lives on.

Spectacles,

are fine.
