Of hernias and books

It’s been a sunny,

beautiful week,

I have much,

on my mind,

some of it delightful,

and some of it,

a little scary.

The scary is,

 I’m going,

to have an operation,

for a hernia,

and honestly,

 it’s got,

me a little bit,

freaked.

The idea of being,

put under,

scares the,

bejessus,

out of me,

Is this a rational point of view?

Of course not!

And…

I know it’s not very,

Butch,

and maybe,

some,

might even contest,

my membership,

in the club,

but,

since it will probably,

take three or four,

months,

before the ultrasound,

and another,

couple of months,

before the operation,

I’ll think about it,

next year:-)

The delightful,

well,

it’s delightful,

and still too precious,

to discuss,

<sigh of awe and delight>

and yes,

that’s all I’ll say,

probably ever.

I have been reading,

a book,

that was a gift,

a sure fire way,

to win a,

bookish butch’s heart,

get her a book,

she doesn’t know about,

a book that surprises her,

and makes her laugh,

makes her think,

wow,

oh yeah,

sure fire way,

may even,

 be more,

effective than,

roast chicken,

and,

on a par with,

home made,

southern fried chicken:-)

I have a lot,

of books,

I read a lot,

of books,

I know a couple of things,

about books,

but,

I love to receive books,

recently,

a friend sent me,

Do The Windows Open,

by Julie Hecht,

a little weird,

but,

I’m liking it,

city angst,

sort of Woody Allen,

the good, early Woody Allen, before he became a, lets face it, dirty ole man:-)

as a girl,

sort of like,

Widow For A Year,

is my man,

John Irving’ ,

female Garp.

Over the past,

two days,

I have been,

reading a book,

that surprises,

me,

Alma Rose,

by Edith Forbes,

I haven’t finished,

but,

I’m savouring,

every bit,

the same lovely lady,

gave me,

five books,

be still my heart:-)

I will write an appreciation,

when I finish,

but,

I’m going to be busy,

for the next couple,

of days,

it’s a long weekend,

here in Quebec,

La Fete Nationale,

la St-Jean-Baptiste,

on this day,

our ancestors,

celebrated,

the day,

of the patron saint,

of French Canadians,

since we,

live in a,

post Catholic society,

nowadays,

people either,

celebrate,

the French fact,

in North America,

or use it as,

an excuse,

to escape the city,

or get drunk,

it’s all good:-)

I’m taking,

a few days,

off,

from the bookstore,¸

from everything,

 I need it.

So,

Later girls,

BB

  1. Hmmm…I think that your Butch cred. is safe–even the great Dan Patrick whined about having a hernia operation:-) Oh, did I say whine?, I meant, showed great concern vociferously:-)

Jokes aside, I hope that all goes well and enjoy your break, BB.

  2. It doesn’t hurt or anything…well, a little discomfort, it’s the being put under, that’s the freaky part.
    And my break was…wonderful, thanks:-)

  3. If I weren’t lazy, I would look up hernia ops., but since I know that you know…how long will you be out of commission? How long will you be ‘under and under the knife’? I hope that the discomfort isn’t too bad…

  4. the details haven’t totally been ironed out, but, a few weeks off, probably and the lenght of the operation
depends on the ultrasound results, so still some nebulosity?? I guess, so it’s Scarlett O’hara motif, kind of,
I’ll think about it in a few months:-)
