Had a great day,
today,
the sun was shinning,
it was crisp,
but,
the sky was a delightful,
shade of blue.
Busy and bustling day,
at the bookstore,
had a out of town visitor,
Amy from Amy Reads,
she’s just as,
nice and smiley,
as I’d imagined.
A few of my friends,
and customers,
talked her ear off,
about politics,
teasing her about,
Toronto’s mayor,
Rob Ford,
a buffoon,
of astronomic proportions,
us Montrealers,
are,
not exactly blessed,
as far as City Hall,
is concerned,
so,
it felt good to ‘pick’ on,
another ‘administration’
just this once,
of course,
we don’t blame,
Amy and our Toronto friends,
we blame the suburbs
<wink>
Enough of that!
‘Tis the Christmas season,
time to be generous to our,
fellow ‘man’.
Since my dinner plans,
didn’t pan out,
mom and I had dinner,
and,
watched,
It’s A Wonderful Life,
the Christmas movie,
to end,
all Christmas movies,
I figure,
I’ve seen it,
at least,
fifteen times,
BB ain’t no Spring Chicken you know:-)
it is a delightful movie,
that really brings home,
the message of how,
one life,
lived generously,
has such a profound effect,
on many others,
as John Donne said
No Man Is An Island.
George Bailey,
is a good man,
who dreams of big things,
seeing the world,
building bridges,
but,
through circumstance,
and,
necessity,
he stays in his small town,
and runs,
his family’s small,
building and loan.
On Christmas Eve,
as his brother,
the war hero,
is supposed,
to return,
his sweet,
clueless,
uncle Billy,
‘misplaces’,
eight thousand dollars.
George and the business,
face ruin,
bankruptcy,
and,
for George,
even,
Prison.
Desperate,
George,
thinks of taking his own life,
because,
in the words of the evil,
Mr Potter,
he is worth more dead than alive.
An angel second class,
the bumbling,
Clarence,
is sent down to save George,
if Clarence succeeds,
he will get his wings,
and,
finally graduate to,
Angel first class:-)
George is shown something,
few people ever realise,
what the world,
would be like,
had he never been born.
It a beautiful testament,
to the importance,
of everyone.
As Clarence says at the end,
Remember, No Man Is A Failure Who Has Friends.
Nice,
everyone counts.
Later girls,
BB
It was really great to see you, and a really great chat. I’ll have to visit again some day. And *grumble grumble* darn those suburbs 😉
As to Christmas movies, my favorite will always be Home Alone!! I cannot get enough of it.
You’re welcome any time:-) I like Home Alone, Macaulay Culkin is priceless.
