Marilyn? The Dalai Lama? Go figure.

I had a good day,

weirdos,

 galore,

of the,

“you only sell books”

variety,

but,

nice,

sane,

customers,

as well,

it was almost,

too nice,

for the day,

to be,

really good,

sales wise.

Why,

visit,

the dusty,

bookstore,

when,

you can be out,

soaking up,

some vitamin D,

Canadians are deficient in Vitamin D, it’s a fact:-)

It’s been,

 a long winter,

and,

it seemed,

to rain,

most,

of,

April,

So,

I went,

outside,

and,

people,

watched,

for a while,

myself,

good for the ego:-)

and then,

I,

resumed,

reading,

it’s a hard job, but, somebody has to do it!

My Anne Lamott,

much love!!

At one,

point,

I had,

to put,

the book,

down.

I didn’t mind,

someone,

actually,

wanted to,

buy,

a book,

from the,

window display.

So, I asked,

the  gentleman,

which book,

he,

was interested in,

“the one, on the Dalai Lama,”

he said,

I smiled,

climbed,

into the window,

and took,

his,

fourteen bucks.

I’ll let you in,

on a secret,

I asked him,

what book,

but,

I knew:-)

Over time,

I have discovered,

if you need,

to attract,

attention,

to your window,

and not, just any cheapo, Hells Angels, Mafia type attention,

two,

subjects,

always work,

The Dalai Lama,

and,

Marilyn Monroe.

Why?

Well,

I think,

it came,

to me,

as I was yaking,

to my ex,

on the phone,

her theory,

she is very Cartesian she has theories,

men are,

interested,

in sex,

and,

women,

are lets,

face it,

deeper!!

Sounds right,

Right?

Nope,

uh huh,

you see,

as many,

women,

as men,

buy,

Marilyn,

and,

ditto,

for the,

Dalai Lama.

Is it an age,

thing?

A sexual,

orientation,

thing?

No,

and no,

again.

So what is it?

On the surface,

Marilyn,

and,

the Dalai Lama,

have nothing,

in common,

except,

their obvious,

broad appeal.

and yet…

perhaps,

it is that,

they both,

represent,

a certain,

innocence.

Marilyn,

in her,

vulnerability,

and,

The Dalai Lama,

in his unshakeable,

faith,

they may also,

represent,

a certain ideal,

she of physical,

beauty,

he,

of,

spiritual enlightment.

All,

I can tell you,

is,

if,

I could,

buy,

a case,

of each,

every month,

I would be,

 a happy butch,

and,

a more,

prosperous,

bookseller,

go figure:-)

Later girls,

BB

enjoy the long weekend all my Canadian girls.

I am a bookish butch in my mid early fifties. I live in Montréal and always have. I used to run a small used bookstore. Reading keeps me sane. My latest jiggie is photography, book project in the works, living the dream
