Let the games begin

The Olympics start today!!!

Opening ceremonies tonight,

going to watch with my bud,

the ex,

she has a big ass TV,

HD,

the works,

woo hoo:-)

The Canadian delagation,

will be led into,

the stadium by,

Simon Whitfield,

at 37 these are his fourth Olympic games,

he is a gold and silver medalist,

in Triathlon,

one of the most gruelling of sports,

Whitfield,

represents,

perseverence in adversity,

as well,

as winning.

After winning gold in 2000 in Sydney,

he finished 11 th in 2004,

he came back to win silver,

in 2008,

at 37,

he embodies a life of sport.

In Canada,

it is traditional to,

alternate between,

a French and an English flag bearer,

it would seem tradition has been,

broken this time,

last Olympics,

Adam van Koeverden,

the great kayaker,

was flag bearer,

and,

he had disastrous Olympics.

The thing is,

if you believe,

in such things,

and, I don’t,

there is a bit of a curse,

associated with being,

our flag bearer,

many who have had the honour,

and,

who were favourites,

and,

reigning world champions,

have had terrible Olympics,

too much pressure,

I guess,

maybe.

I think Whitfield can handle it,

he’s been around the block,

a few times.

I look forward to seeing,

some of my favourites,

from around the world,

Micheal Phelps, the greatest swimmer of all time.

Laure Manaudou,

the geat French Champion making a comeback.

But,

mostly I’ll be watching the games,

the sport,

the chasing of deams

🙂

I’ll keep a special eye on,

Clara Hughes,

Pictured here, with team mate Joelle Numainville,

I’d like to see her win,

and become the greatest Olympian,

ever.

If she wins she will be,

but,

to me,

she kind of already is.
