It is important to remember

It’s a beautiful,

sunny day,

crisp.

Today is,

Remembrance Day.

All over the country,

they’re are ceremonies,

to remember the fallen,

the sacrifice,

of previous generations.

In Ottawa,

it is much crisper,

and,

representatives,

of our government,

veterans,

and,

families,

have gathered in close to,

zero degree weather,

to honour the dead,

and,

the living,

who served and serve,

in the armed forces.

I don’t think,

war is something,

to be glorified or celebrated,

but,

it must be,

remembered.

Our veterans,

past and present,

deserve our respect.

Their service,

and sacrifices,

are all too real.

I watch these old men,

with their ribbons,

and,

medals,

tears in their eyes,

for the horror,

they witnessed,

the loss of their youth and innocence.

The men who fought,

in World War I,

and,

World War II,

fought to protect the world,

from imperial aggression,

and evil.

The men and women,

in Afghanistan,

fight to free Afghans,

from the barbarism,

of the Taliban.

We may see their fights,

as blatant,

government machinations,

and manipulations,

but,

we musn’t confuse,

our disagreements,

with the ugliness,

of savage capitalism,

and mercantile interests,

with the help,

our soldiers bring,

to needy people.

The remains of countless,

Canadian men and boys,

rest in cemeteries,

all over Europe,

‘we’ sacrificed much.

‘Our’ grandfathers,

liberated,

the Dutch from,

Nazi horrors,

they remember so,

should we.

Later girls,
