It’s a grey day,
and I ain’t just,
talking weather!
The Conservatives,
have won a majority.
Ontario,
as predicted,
by all the analysts,
was the architect,
of this,
majority.
Wow,
I’m a little bit,
freaked out,
sixty percent of,
Canadians,
all Canadians,
voted against,
the Harper government,
and yet,
they have a,
a wopping majority,
what is it,
the Chinese curse says?
May you live in interesting times.
Well, my friends,
these are,
interesting times,
last night,
we witnessed,
the demise of the,
Bloc Québécois,
and quite possibly,
of the Liberal party,
and an unprecedented,
high vote for the NDP.
The lines between,
left and right,
seem to have been,
clearly drawn,
this parlement,
will have an opposition,
strongly from Québec,
and a majority governement,
from Ontario and the West,
like I said,
interesting times.
Am I upset?
Yeah.
Am I worried?
I would be lying,
if I said no,
I am,
a little,
but,
in the real scheme,
of things,
not really.
Canada,
like the rest of the world,
has done away with,
the center,
leaves us with,
a more polarised country?
I’m not sure,
I hope not,
but,
I’ll tell you,
something,
it’s a hard Spring,
to be both,
a Habs fan,
and a lefty,
and yet,
I’m proud,
to be both.
Rise to fight,
another day,
I guess:-)
Later girls,
BB
It’s interesting, hard to say anything else about what happened last night. A lot of crazy surprises compared to prior elections.
Blah. That’s about all I have to say!
ditto:-)
Yep, it’s interesting!!
BB: You’re right: that interesting times piece. A case of history repeating and Black Swan events and shifting empires….this time with reporters at the front lines? Only history will tell. I think it’s sad but predictable: the masses want parental paternalism to rescue them from uncertainty. Centrist perspective (formerly the liberal laissez-faire platform) doesn’t work that well in uncertain times with most of the population, and really, is anyone truly Liberal…? (Dare I mention FLQ crisis and a martial law order by a Liberal..?) I for one hope cooler heads prevail. The one thing that Harper seems unwilling to do is undo laws that have passed. So here’s hoping that at a minimum…it doesn’t get worse with his contempt of Parliament and absolute abuse of power. Which was kinda like the previous party and its leader ;-.
Let’s hope Jack and his bunch, a nice lot on the whole I think, make for a boisterous and effective opposition.
