Another humid day,
grey,
pulling towards,
blue.
I’ve had a tough week,
insomnia,
and,
the full moon,
all joking aside,
it’s rough.
Those of you who suffer from insomnia, I can imagine shaking your head and saying I hear ya BB!!
When you are,
sleep deprived,
all your emotions,
and,
insecurities,
are amplified,
it’s no wonder,
it’s considered,
an effective means of,
torture:-)
When you can’t sleep,
advice abounds,
usually from people,
who experience,
no problems,
sleeping.
They tell you,
things,
like,
go to bed earlier,
drink warm milk,
have you thought of,
drinking less coffee!!
If I go to bed earlier,
the insomnia lasts longuer,
warm milk gives me heartburn,
chamomille makes me pee,
and,
the only thing,
that keeps me functional,
is,
COFFEE.
One thing that,
helps,
is having,
a good book,
not too deep,
insomnia does make you slightly brain dead:-)
maybe,
a little bit romantic,
a little bit funny,
comforting,
grilled cheese,
type reading.
I luckily had,
such a book,
over the last,
couple of days.
A lesbian fiction,
a romance,
not too romantic,
not too steamy,
just right,
plus it was a,
gift,
from a wonderful,
woman,
she gives me, many gifts,but,chief amongst them,is her friendship,and,her smile.:-)
The book is,
Butch Girls Can Fix Anything,
Truth in fiction?? 🙂
the author is,
Paula Offutt,
a nice read,
not perfect,
but,
what is?
A butch positive,
love story,
with likeable characters,
and a mostly,
believable plot.
Just what the,
doctor ordered,
for an insomiac,
insecure butch:-)
It’s nice to know,
some women,
still like,
butch women
<wink>
Side note- August 18 th is butch appreciation day, don’t forget to express your appreciation to your favourite butch, it’s sort of like Valentine’s day, even if you do it regularly, appreciate I mean, nothing wrong with doing it on a quasi official day.

Heh heh. Last night I fell asleep okay, it was this morning that was tough… Eventually got up at a quarter to 6, dazed and not-quite-rested.
Have you tried dried valerian and passionflower? I make them into a tea, and they really work (and should not be taken too often, because they can mess you up). You’d need to get them from an herbalist shop… Something that we have many of in this west coast (hippie/alternative/New Age/open-minded!) town, but perhaps may not be so easy to find in your city. Or else I just take a regular chemical sleeping pill, because after three or four nights without sleep I just don’t care about anything except the bliss of feeling well-rested!
I prefer how-to manuals when I’m tired, but your selection sounds good too… As does International Butch Appreciation Day! I’m attending, wholeheartedly.
Well, I’ll tell ya last night I gave in and took half a sleeping pill, I’ve had the prescription for
two years, first time I take one, and now I’m thinking another one tonight and I should be
back to the charmin’ butch you all know and love(wink), but, I will check out your herbal remedy, we do have hippies in Montréal:-)
Insomnia sucks. For me, it’s usually about stress. I haven’t had it for a while, but I had a bad bout of it a few years ago after a relationship turned into a trainwreck and it was awful. I just used to lie on the sofa watching SF shows.
This is the worst bout in years, I don’t get it, I’m happy- no more stressed than usual maybe it’s hormonal:-)
I love to blame my hormones or the full moon, you all may have noticed:-)
