I trust you have all brought in the New Year,
in a way that suited you.
Mom and I went to see Les Miserables,
on New Year’s day,
a newish tradition,
going to the movies,
on New Year’s day,
we like it.
We pick a big,
boisterous movie,
that must,
be seen on a big screen,
last year,
Tintin,
this year a big,
Musical.
I like musicals,
sure you have to go with them,
suspend reality for a bit,
sure,
life isn’t sung,
đŸ˜›
but,
this isn’t life,
it’s the movies.
Les Miserables,
is full of big, emotional and rousing songs.
I find the message a little to,
Christian,
and,
the characters a little unidimensional,
but,
who can resist,
the truly good,
or,
the truly evil,
makes it easy to pick sides,
the poor,
the downtrodden,
the people,
do you hear the people sing, singing the song of angry men
Wonderful musical,
terrific performances,
I thought Russel Crowe as Javert,
made him more complex,
I didn’t hate him,
I could understand him,
not agree,
understand.
Anne Hathaway as Fantine,
is luminous.
I cried three times,
a good cleansing and inspiring movie,
Vive la revolution!!!!
…And so a new year begins,
a clean(ish) slate,
metaphorically speaking.
I’ve got a few reading plans for the year,
I’ll tell you all about them soon.
Right now,
I’ve got to concentrate on keeping warm
and,
trying to implement this bit of wisdom,
Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense-Ralph Waldo Emerson
This is my New Year’s resolution,
aim for a clean slate,
at the end of the day,
sleep better,
be happier,
love stronger,
be kinder,
do the very best I can,
and,
move on to the next,
day.
Happy 2013 girls:-)
later,
BB
I’m being taken to see this next week. A. was a HUGE Les Mis fan when she was a teenager and just has to see the movie.
As for me, I was into Phantom of the Opera and The Rocky Horror Picture show.
It is a beautiful show-movie full of beautiful sentiment and really good songs. I love Rocky Horror Picture Show, Meat Loaf is still one of my fav singers and Susan Sarandon in a bra, Tim Curry in tights, all priceless:-)
