Ramblings of love, Ella and the Lady Woolf

It’s a sunny morning,

promises of,

a hot one,

float in the air,

it’s nice,

it is Summer,

after all.

🙂

I had a beautiful weekend,

special,

as only,

time spent,

with the one you love,

can be.

So the long,

Canada Day weekend,

is over and it’s back,

to work.

I’m sitting in the cafe,

right next to my bookstore,

having my espresso,

liquid courage,

for the day and the week,

to come,

full moon,

possible heat wave,

gotta be,

in tip top form,

ready,

for all possibilities,

good and bad,

it’s all about preparedness.

I wrote this,

earlier today,

having coffee,

listening to Ella,

I’m usually a Billie girl,

but,

honestly,

no-one does,

I love Paris,

like,

Ella,

smooth, lyrical,

I  never tire of it,

I never will.

Busy, busy,

day at the bookstore,

no time to read,

no time to write,

no time to be hot,

or,

bitch about the heat,

good day:-)

I’ve been so busy,

I haven’t read much,

but,

I have been carrying around,

Woolf’s,

A Room Of One’s Own,

a cute vintage Penguin edition,

I’m liking it,

I haven’t had much success,

with Woolf’s fiction,

too dense,

too stylistic,

for me,

I may not be,

smart enough,

to get,

Virginia the deep,

but,

this essay,

yeah,

I get it,

(I think:-))

feminism,

space,

to do what you will,

to do what you need,

to think,

to breathe,

to create,

I haven’t read much of it,

yet,

but,

it’s resonating.

To all my American friends,

I want to wish you all,

a bodacious,

4 TH Of July!!!

Later girls,

BB

  1. Ella: crystal clear, smooth
    Billie: Emotional, raw, shattered
    both great.

As for Virginia Woolf — oh thank goddess. I thought I was the only one. I have not found a way to access Woolf’s work although I have moments of thinking I should. So what if she’s been adopted by co-opted by academic feminism? So what if she is a feminist icon, and an icon for women writers? I have not dared breathe these sentiments out loud. I’m hoping my card doesn’t get rescinded.

Take care in the heat… 😉

  2. I too worried about the card rescinding thing, so far I am managing A Room Of One’s Own,
I have skipped a bit but, not much. The fact that someone as smart as you has experienced
difficulties with Virginia, makes me feel better:-) Stay cool, man it’s hot!

  3. Sometimes, I don’t want to carry any cards. So, I don’t. But I am usually very quiet about my resistance. Who decided that Woolf was more important to read than Nin? Or Barnes? Or HD? Or Stein? Or Mansfield? I’d like to know.

It is hellishly hot here today. I have made berry tea and turned it into a iced tea. On the pavement the temp was registering 54C…making it hard for dogs … and especially dogs whose owners are homeless. 🙁

The goddess… I think she’s somewhat occupied these days. 😉

  4. You don’t need cards, a mind and heart will do. It is unbelievably HOT, I too worry about the cats and dogs,
The Goddess is busy with a little too much pain in the world (: stay cool drink tea, it will pass, I promise,
    butch’s honour:-)
