On The Waterfront, brunch and gentrification

It’s a beautiful,

sunny day,

blue skies,

no snow.

The weather types,

were right,

we did have,

some snow,

quite a bit,

on Friday,

and,

Saturday some blowing stuff.

As a result,

business was ok,

better than expected,

but still,

kind of slow.

I was feeling tired last night,

so I stayed home,

had dinner with mom.

She made a lovely,

porc roast,

and we watched,

On The Waterfront,

on MoviePix.

I think you girls know,

BB is a major movie fanatic,

but,

I had never seen that one,

a serious lack.

I knew it was a great movie,

but,

sometimes,

you need to see things,

for yourself,

even if you know,

that by all standards,

something is a masterpiece,

still,

what do you think?

On The Waterfront,

is great,

seeing it,

without commercial interuption,

I know that’s what dvd’s and blueray are for, not to mention Netflix, but, I still watch TV, commercials and all, mom won’t give up her cable:-)

allows you to see,

the magic of,

the pacing,

the tension,

the dialogue,

I’m so glad I watched it,

didn’t even,

get up to pee:-)

Marlon Brando,

young and virile,

at the height of,

his art,

his appeal,

young,

dangerous,

vulnerable.

A gritty, violent story,

about men who work hard,

and,

those who exploit them.

If you haven’t seen it,

do,

and while you’re at it,

watch,

A Streetcar Named Desire,

and,

The Godfather,

that will enlighten you,

as to why Marlon Brando,

is considered one of the greatest

of any generation.

Today is a social day,

going for brunch,

to a fancy smantsy place,

in the Mile End,

that apparently,

serves up,

the best of English fry ups.

It’s a friends birthday,

and,

that’s where she wants to go,

the Mile End used to be,

a multi ethnic,

working class neighbourhood,

now it’s a gentified kind of place,

not my favourite,

but,

I’m open to the idea,

I’ll let you know,

what I think,

of the fifteen dollar breakfast,

and,

I’ll try not to be too much,

of a working class snob:-)

In the evening,

I’m going to have dinner,

with my ex,

catch up,

eat some low fat food,

I’ll need it after the fry up!!,

maybe watch some of the Oscars.

Canada via Quebec,

has a nominee,

in the best foreign language category,

No, Canadian isn’t a foreign language but, French is, well, to Hollywood!!

The movie is Mr Lazhar,

it’s a gem,

I’ll be rooting for it,

it’s not just,

a ‘homer’ thing,

I saw it with mom,

a few weeks ago,

a powerful story,

about,

cultural differences,

cultural similarities,

and,

the pain of living,

surviving,

or,

giving in,

to fear and despair.

Well,

Have a great Sunday:-)

Later girls,

BB

  1. Some of the old films are incredible. One day, I will have a dog and name her Stella

Fingers totally crossed for M. Lazhar: it was a great film. But I can’t bring myself to watch the Oscars. Isn’t Lost Girl on tonight..?? Anna Silk?

  2. Damn, I love Brando, and yep, that’s one of the good ones, not that I ever saw him in a bad movie come to think of it. He was and is one of my all-time fav actors.

Hey, did you watch the Oscars? Not something we bother with here, in QC! I’d rather read a good book thanks. 🙂

  3. I always watch the Oscars, but, I tell ya I’m starting to find it boring too, perhaps next year
I’ll read a good book instead, nah, I can’t stop myself:-)
