It is a glorious morning,
sunny,
bright,
breezy,
and
airy,
as in there is air,
to breathe,
hasn’t been much of that,
lately,
oxygen.
Quote of the day on the Gazette, got me thinking
“The important thing in life is not to triumph but to compete” Pierre De Coubertin
The Olympics start,
in a few days,
yeh, yeh, love the Olympics,
and,
everything they should,
stand for,
the beauty and health of youth,
participation and dedication,
competition,
the importance of losing and winning,
with grace,
sport,
as an international language,
a means of bringing people,
together.
I’ll admit,
I’m a bit of a homer,
Mark Tewksbury, Olympic gold medalist and Canadian chef de mission Olympic team 2012. A winner, an example an out and proud Gay man.
The Brits have been criticised,
for spending too much money,
on security,
and having too much army presence,
I find that incredible coming from,
countries like Canada,
how much did Toronto spend on the G8 a few years ago?
The U.S.,
the war on terror, the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan etc.
I’m not militaristic,
but,
I want our athletes and delegations safe,
I trust the Brits will do this,
with class and reserve,
fingers crossed.
🙂
So, for the next few weeks,
I’ll be watching,
the youth of the world,
assemble,
in one of the worlds great capitals,
for sport,
for beauty,
for peaceful,
aspirations.
Go world go:-)
***I realise this is a naive vision, a very privileged ‘western’ vision, I am what I am. I believe, in reaching for a better, more peaceful world***
