Yesterday, I was reading,

Anyway,

got me thinking,

what would a butch like for Valentine’s?

Now, I don’t claim to ‘speak’,

for all butches,

not even close,

and,

I think what a butch,

most wants,

for Valentine’s,

any,

kind of,

type of,

genre of,

sub-section of,

butch,

is,

the love of a good woman,

’cause when you have,

that,

you have everything,

right?

So if like me,

you have that,

you’re good,

golden even,

if you don’t,

I’m sending you,

hope,

that you should find it,

never give up,

ok?

Personally,

I like Valentine’s,

and,

I don’t believe you need to spend,

a lot of money,

or even any money,

to show you care,

a nice card,

a home cooked meal,

back rub,

and if you are being,

the attentive, loving butch,

that I know you are,

your lady,

glows with the love and attention,

that you bestow,

daily.

Never, ever, take her for granted, tell her, show her

This post is about,

what butches want,

no matter,

how they protest,

that they don’t ‘need’ anything.

Of course,

they don’t need anything,

they’re golden,

remember?

But, here are a few things,

that would improve,

their,

elements of butch style,

and,

bring a big ole grin,

to your butch,

if she is anything like me

A Woolrich(or close facsimile) Melton Irish wool cap,

for the Spring,

dress it up,

button down, leather jacket, black jeans,

dress it down,

quilted jacket, plaid shirt, blue jeans,

I like the grey,

myself,

would match,

everything.

I know she already has a few, but, really girls, can you ever have too many nice caps?

Exactly

A good basic cotton crew neck in navy, like this Orvis number, not cheap but, won’t break the bank, she’ll wear this, a lot and she’ll think of you, even more, everytime she wears it:-) ( could also be black, brown, dark green…but, a ‘match practically her whole wardrobe’ thing)

A soft, luxurious, neutral toned sweater, for special occasions, like…Valentine’s day dates:-)

A slim, card wallet, beautiful leather, comes in a variety of colours, fits in any pocket, a few cards, some cash, your butch is good to go, without that bump on her butt. Made to order, relatively cheap($39.00) and can be laser monogramed with her initials. Won’t get it for Valentine’s though, maybe, next year?

Kent folding comb, under $20.00. Kent make the best combs and brushes in the world, British know how. So much nicer than that dollar store black thingie she carries and, she would never buy this herself, but, she’ll love it:-) Butches are very particular about their hair.

In the ‘too cool for words’ category, Swiss army knife and paracord bracelet, for the butch who likes gadgets (and really what butch doesn’t??) This will look stylish and trendy and allow your butch to channel her inner James Bond:-P

Of course, these are just silly suggestions, for fun, you know what your butch wants, right?

She wants to hold you tight and rock your world,

she wants to dance with you in the moonlight,

she wants to love you like nobody’s loved you,

come rain or come shine,

oh yeah<happy, happy sigh>

Happy Valentine’s girls,

now,

write that poem,

learn that tune,

start baking that cake,

you’ve got a woman to impress.

On Sunday,

I went shopping-scouting,

for Fall clothes,

now,

usually I would go,

alone,

butch shopping,

is  intricate,

butch aesthetics,

hard to explain,

you need someone,

who gets it,

who likes it,

who will smile at,

your choices,

not,

someone,

who makes faces,

and,

wonders,

‘why you would want to dress like a boy’

mom, has vastly improved, although, I’m not sure she gets the difference between a pink ‘girlie’ sweater and a pink button down oxford, after all they both are pink, right?

So usually,

I go,

alone.

Now, I happen to have,

a friend,

who really gets butch,

aesthetics,

she notices your new shirts,

even if they are the same,

hue of blue,

as the last batch,

she notices,

that you are wearing,

a new pair of boot cut jeans,

she compliments,

your boots,

and

she isn’t even trying,

to pick you up,

(nod to Butch Wonders ‘How To Flirt With A Butch’)

and,

she isn’t even remotely,

butch herself,

but,

she digs butches,

and their style.

I even mentioned to her,

that it was a pleasure shopping,

with someone who got,

it,

she seemed pleased:-)

See I’ve been thinking,

how would one,

go about explaining,

butch aesthetic??

Well,

first off,

there isn’t just one.

You have your,

tie wearing butches,

dapper, blazer, pressed.

your politico butches,

all about thrift and hemp,

your ‘ladies man’ butches,

all hair product, and, fashion trends,

you even have your,

my ‘wife’ dresses me butch,

polos and jeans, JC Penney and Walmart are fine, who cares, denim is denim.

You have your,

working class hero butch,

your cowboy butch,

‘howdy ma’am’

your professorial corduroy butch.

Of course,

I’m a bookish butch,

of fast approaching,

middle age,

and of a certain…

shall we say,

girth?

Plus,

I like to think,

of myself,

as,

complex,

layered and well…

unique:-)

A combination, working class, professorial and some inner cowboy. 

Not sure about that, but a butch has to have her illusions to hang on to, right?

coming up on three years!! and I thank you for your continued readership, I’d like you all to manifest yourselves once in a while, let me know that you’re around, I wonder who’s been reading the longest and if there are still readers from the early days or if I bore everyone after a while, anyway, as usual, I digress:-)

Oxford Cloth Button Down shirts,

usually in blue,

Plaid flannel shirts,

some killer dress shirts,

my ex gave me,

when,

she got slinky slim,

henleys,

boxers,

boot cut jeans,

lots of L.L. Bean,

lots of American Eagle Outfitters,

flat tweed caps,

baseball caps,

leather jacket,

my elements,

my style.

What you might not know,

is that in the past few months,

since I got my new ‘do’

and,

have lost a few pounds,

not to mention,

the fact that I am madly,

in love,

with a woman who thinks,

butch is wonderful and,

dare I say it,

hot.

I have been,

tweaking my style,

glorying in it,

revelling in it,

wearing,

my proud butch,

exterior,

to match my tender butch,

interior.

I’ve even added,

a little butch jewellery,

leather wristbands,

that kind of thing.

My new P-Town cap,

that the ex brought back from her vacation,

sports a I love Queer Anarchists and a pierced nipple button,

this is pretty out there for me,

cutting edge:-P

All this to say,

it’s hard to explain butch aesthetics,

and,

better butches than me,

have tried.
