Hello everyone,
I hope you are all feeling,
fine.
Hard to feel good in the present,
state of the world.
Still…
There is a famous Chinese curse:
May You Live in Interesting times.
I’ve always been perplexed,
as to why,
living in interesting times,
would ever be considered a curse.
Boredom, is a curse,
sameness and complacency,
these are curses,
but interesting times??
Not for me.
We are living through,
a pandemic,
our lives do not much resemble,
what they were last week.
Lots of sick people,
most of the world,
is self isolating.
I count myself lucky,
to live in a province, in a country,
where the leaders actually care,
what happens to us.
Our leaders are showing true leadership.
I am much more worried for my friends,
in the USA.
We saw what happened in Italy, Spain etc,
we now know what needs to be done,
to flatten the curve.
I try not to obsess,
but, I do wonder what kind of a world,
will emerge from this?
Will it be reborn,
as a more just place,
where people,
their health, safety and,
future are more important ,
than money?
will we emerge from this,
kinder, gentler and much more sensitive,
to our planet,
and the creatures who share it with us,
will we stop glorifying,
the ‘I’m alright Jack , fuck you!’
kind of an attitude?
I sure hope so.
My mind has been wandering,
most days I’m ok,
I stay in, shop for provisions,
and get out for some air and a walk.
But, it’s tough,
I worry about my mother,
I worry that those I love will be sick.
I miss my life and don’t know how long,
the present quarantine will last.
On Sunday, the premier,
announced that all hair salons, barbers etc,
would be closed.
I had been needing a hair cut.
I freaked,
I got out my cat’s hair clipper,
which I have never used on the cat,
and went to town shearing my hair,
it felt good,
it was a crazy thing to do,
but it felt good,
at least I could chose to cut my hair,
it will grow back,
I own a tons of beanies, tuques and caps,
but,
it just goes to show that the weirdest things…
can set you off.
Hope you are all coping as well as possible,
staying home, staying safe,
and being good citizens,
bad hair or not.
