Who knew? ramble, ramble, and Face Book

It’s sunny and warm,

not hot,

thank you,

whoever:-)

Hair update:

It’s been growing steadily,

double,

the length,

I loved it short,

really short,

channeling my inner,

Sigourney,

I wish!!!

and now that’s it’s longer,

I have found,

something,

I never expected to find,

a widow’s peak,

how cool is that?

and,

who knew?

I’ve always worn my hair,

short,

but,

a little…

shaggy,

I guess.

This new look is,

crisp,

clean,

and,

yes,

I’ll say it,

dashingly butch

<wink>

It’s funny,

I’ve had something,

nipping,

at the back of my mind,

it’s about,

Face Book.

I know a lot of people,

are down,

on,

Face Book,

they,

‘fear’ it will eat up time,

so much of their time,

or,

that it will invade their privacy,

and,

that somehow,

it will reduce,

their opportunities,

to connect face to face,

I can see it,

I had some of these,

apprehensions myself.

But,

the arguments used,

against Face Book,

indeed,

any of the social media,

are arguments,

that were used against,

the Internet,

email,

and,

probably,

even though,

I’m not old enough,

to remember,

the telephone!!!

I’m certainly not,

the savviest of techies,

but,

I like my email,

my blog,

and,

yes,

Face Book.

I’m not trying to convince anybody here, I’m just saying.

Since I’ve been,

on Face Book,

it has allowed me,

to renew,

acquaintance,

contact,

and,

in one very important case,

friendship.

Could I have done all this,

without Face Book?

undoubtedly,

has Face Book,

made it easy?

Without a doubt:-)

I see pictures of the kids,

wish people,

Happy Birthday,

chat with my friend,

Chris,

in Toronto,

it can be brief,

like running into each other,

at the supermarket,

or like having,

a nice chat over coffee.

I see stupid things,

on Face Book,

and I see touching,

and,

thought provoking things.

Face Book,

helps me touch base,

and,

meet like minded,

people,

to me it’s all good.

When I hear,

that the Internet,

and,

social media,

have alienated people from each other,

I shake my head,

I have connected with people,

this way,

and,

it’s made my life,

richer,

happier,

more informed.

I ‘see’ hundreds of people,

every week,

I have friends and family,

I don’t want for companionship,

and,

still,

these ‘tools’,

helps me connect,

with others,

differently,

I don’t connect less,

because,

of Face Book,

I connect more.

Privacy,

may be something,

of the past,

but,

have we ever really had it?

Time was,

not so long ago,

people lived together,

in one room,

we had no privacy,

and,

no time to develop,

the concept,

of privacy.

Now we live,

those of us,

in the ‘Western’ world,

in more personal space,

and,

with a click,

of a mouse,

we can communicate,

with anyone,

anywhere,

anytime,

discuss,

our love of old Frank Capra movies,

buy the lusted after elusive arcana of choice,

or simply,

an oxford cloth button down shirt,

in a ‘normal’ shade of blue,

that fits.

We don’t ‘have’ to reveal, every minute, detail of our existence, really we don’t!!!

Face Book,

and,

the Internet,

aren’t a substitute,

for life,

and,

connecting with the world,

they are a compliment,

’cause,

when it comes right down to it,

it’s still about,

the human experience.

In my humble opinion,

but,

what do I know???

Later girls,

BB
