Turkeys? Gems? mostly, good ‘ordinary’ people

Good morning,

nice day,

hot,

but,

nice.

I’m wondering if I’m not,

starting to like Summer,

who knew?

đŸ™‚

Weird dynamic,

this morning,

people saying,

strange things,

very strange things.

I guess some people don’t get,

silence is golden,

not a philosophy I often espouse, but, still…

Walking to work,

this woman,

don’t recognize her,

says to me,

Are you still in business?

‘Nobody reads anymore, they all have electronic devices,

I mean the point of business,is to make a profit, no?’

At this point,

it may be pertinent,

to mention,

this woman,

barely knows,

me,

I mean obviously,

she knows I work,

in a bookstore,

I don’t know her,

if she buys books,

she buys them,

elsewhere,

that’s fine,

other bookstores,

libraries,

church basements,

flea markets,

garage sales,

it’s all good,

I want people to read,

and,

acquire books,

any way,

they can.

What I don’t get,

is the ballsiness,

utter cluelessness,

not mention,

rudeness?

of such a statement,

what are people thinking,

when they say,

such things,

to people,

they don’t know,

I mean,

people you know,

are one thing,

in attempts,

at real communication,

intimacy,

making ourselves,

available,

vulnerable,

we sometimes,

stumble,

hurt,

wound feelings,

stub toes,

ours and others,

but,

strangers,

or,

quasi strangers???

Have we lost our sense,

of,

civility,

politeness,

or,

am I just having,

a hormone,

induced,

hissy fit??

I don’t know,

so,

it’s a beautiful morning,

I’m going to,

put it out of a mind,

have breakfast,

feel,

the breeze,

it could be elusive,

calling for a hot couple of days,

I drink,

my coffee,

enjoy,

it’s smooth,

bitterness,

smile,

I’m happy,

I’m in love,

I sell books,

for a living,

albeit, a meager living<wink>

I open the store,

get some air circulating,

and,

the first two,

‘customers’

!!??

one asks,

based on my outside bargain rack,

I guess,

if all my books,

are a quarter,

duh? No?

and,

then some old guy,

who carries on,

about how,

hard it is to find,

westerns,

I find him two,

I tell him,

4 bucks,

you’d think,

I’d said,

400!!!

Oh, well,

one of my nicest customers,

has just walked in,

with a big smile,

and,

a sweet hello,

the morning is getting better:-)

The fact is the proportion,

of turkeys,

is less,

then of gems,

and,

good ‘ordinary’ people?

Well,

they are the vast majority.

I like my job,

really I do:-)

Have a good day,

the sun is shinning.

Later girls,

BB
